Hidden technical tricks that increase the efficiency and comfort of browsing in 4 popular programs

Popular Internet browsers are full of a hidden feature that contributes to improving the browsing experience, by focusing on the basic content of the pages and blocking visual distractions. According to a report published by the Washington Post.

The Reading Mode feature removes ads, pop-ups, newsletter subscriptions, and redundant elements, to present text and articles in a simpler, clearer way. This feature is available in four main browsers: “Safari,” “Google Chrome,” “Microsoft Edge,” and “Firefox,” with variations in its names and activation mechanism from one browser to another.

How to use on computers
Safari browser users can activate the feature by clicking on the horizontal lines icon in the address bar if it is available. In Google Chrome, a book icon next to the address bar allows access to “Reading Mode” to display text in a clean interface. In the Microsoft Edge browser, the feature is known as “Immersive Reader,” and in Firefox it is called “Reader View,” both of which are operated via custom icons in the address bar.

Activation on mobile phones
Smartphones require additional steps to access the feature due to limited screen space. In the “Safari” and “Chrome” browsers, you need to open the options menu, while “Firefox” and “Edge” provide mini page-shaped icons to activate the feature directly.

Despite its many advantages, the feature does not support all websites, as some pages impose restrictions that prevent it from working as required, in addition to the difference in the way images and additional content are processed from one browser to another. However, this feature remains a practical tool that gives users a calm and organized reading environment away from the clutter of ads.
