Mounir Nasraoui, the father of Barcelona and Spanish national team star Lamine Gamal, revealed his son’s full name, correcting the common belief that “Jamal” is his family name.
Nasrawi explained, during his appearance on a live broadcast on the Spanish “El Chiringto” program, that the player’s full name is “Lamine Jamal Nasrawi Ibana,” indicating that “Jamal” is part of his personal name and not the family surname, while his family bears the name “Nasrawi Ibana.” He pointed out that he always makes sure to call him “Lamine Jamal” in all circumstances.
For his part, the player had previously confirmed in a press interview with the newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” that he preferred to be called “Lamine Jamal”, or to be satisfied with the abbreviation “Lamine”, which is the name with which he achieved his wide international fame.
It is noteworthy that Lamine Jamal’s father is of Moroccan origins, while his mother’s origins go back to Equatorial Guinea, and the player preferred to represent the Spanish national team despite attempts to attract him to represent the Moroccan national team. Despite this, the Barcelona star is constantly keen to highlight his roots, as he decorates his sneakers with the flags of Morocco and Equatorial Guinea, in addition to his famous celebration with the “304” sign, which commemorates his upbringing in the Rocafunda neighborhood in Spain.
