Data issued by the Turkish Statistical Institute on Wednesday showed that Turkey’s trade deficit declined by 25.8% on an annual basis during last September, reaching $5.16 billion, supported by the growth of exports at a pace that exceeded imports.
According to official statistics, Turkish exports recorded an increase of 15.3% compared to the same period last year, reaching $25.96 billion, while imports increased by 5.6% to record $31.13 billion, which directly contributed to reducing the foreign trade gap during the aforementioned month.
At the expanded semi-annual level, the same data indicated that despite the improvement recorded in September, the overall trade deficit during the first nine months of the year (from January to September) witnessed an increase of 5.7% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, recording $70.97 billion.
