The media office of Prime Minister Nawaf Salam denied the validity of the news circulating on social media platforms about his issuing an order to deport two people suspected of being linked to the Israeli intelligence service “Mossad,” stressing that these allegations are “completely untrue,” and stressing that Salam did not interfere in the file in any way.
The official statement explained that the security services arrested the two people on suspicion of using a phone number bearing the international code (+972), and it was later revealed during investigations that they hold Palestinian nationality and reside in the city of Ramallah, which justifies their use of this code.
The media office indicated that investigations were conducted under the supervision of the competent judiciary, and proved that the two individuals entered Lebanese territory legally, and had previously visited the country several times, in addition to possessing two valid travel tickets for departure. He stressed that the case was dealt with completely independently through security and judicial institutions without any government interference.
At the conclusion of the statement, the office denounced the promotion of these fabricated news, considering that publishing such stories indicates “moral bankruptcy in addition to political bankruptcy” of the parties behind them, in the context of responding to the rumors that have spread recently regarding the arrest of the two suspects and their fate.
