The town of Mariata witnessed security tension following a dispute that occurred within a funeral gathering for the Lozi family, against the backdrop of the presence of the former mayor, called “M.A.,” whose presence aroused the ire of some of those present, and the situation developed into shooting in the air.
In the details, the so-called “A.H” and his relative “W.H” tried to forcefully remove the former mayor from the funeral tent, which led to escalation of tension between the two parties and shooting, without any human casualties being recorded.
Immediately, the Lebanese Army units intervened, strengthening their deployment around the town and taking strict field measures to control security, prevent renewed clashes, and calm the situation amid cautious anticipation from the people.
