Escalation in Arqoub: Demands for urgent action amid field concerns

The “Arqoub Sons Authority” warned of the danger of the ongoing Israeli movements in a number of villages and towns in southern Lebanon, considering that the incursions, changing landmarks and building roads portend new attempts to annex Lebanese lands.

The Commission explained, in a statement issued by its media office, that the Israeli violations were concentrated in the towns of Kafr Shuba, Shebaa, Al-Habbariyya, and Halta within the Arqoub area, warning against the consequences of repeating previous scenarios that led to the occupation of Shebaa Farms and the Kafar Shuba Hills, in light of what it described as the absence or neglect of successive authorities and governments.

The Commission called for urgent and immediate action at the Arab and international levels, by addressing the League of Arab States, the United Nations, and the UN Security Council, to put an end to these incursions and attacks aimed at annexing new lands. The Lebanese state also called for these violations to be included on the agenda of the Mechanism Committee, noting their serious repercussions on the lives of the people and their ability to access their agricultural lands and harvest their crops and sources of livelihood.

At the conclusion of its statement, the “Arqoub Sons Association” stressed the importance of fortifying internal unity among the Lebanese to confront the Israeli challenges that threaten Lebanon’s sovereignty, independence, and future.

These developments come in light of field tensions and repeated Israeli movements in the border region, which doubles the fears of the people in the agricultural villages about the imposition of new field events, especially since the Arqoub area enjoys strategic sensitivity despite its connection to the issue of the Shebaa Farms and the Kfar Shuba Hills, which requires close follow-up by the Lebanese institutions and relevant international mechanisms.
