Israeli report: Tehran urges Hezbollah to carry out kidnappings of soldiers

Attention is once again turning to the Lebanese front, amid Israeli security estimates that Tehran has intensified its pressure on Hezbollah in recent days. To push for a large-scale military escalation and carry out specific operations against Israel, including attempts to kidnap soldiers in the Israeli army.

According to a report prepared by journalist Hillel Biton Rosen and published by Israeli Channel 14, the Iranian leadership is seeking to escalate the situation on the northern border, at a time when Hezbollah is preparing for the possibility of a comprehensive confrontation with Israel, and is studying options for carrying out operations of the type that Tehran is demanding.

Despite the existing preparations, Israeli estimates show that there is a fundamental difference between the two sides, limited to the issue of “timing.” Iran is pressing for immediate action, while this timing has not yet convinced Hezbollah, which means that it has not made a final decision to move to the stage of major escalation at the present time.

This movement comes in the context of the ongoing tension on the northern border and the open confrontation between Israel and what is known as the Iranian axis. Last month, Tehran conveyed a warning to the United States about a possible large-scale attack, against the backdrop of fears of Israeli control over the “Ali al-Tahir” heights in southern Lebanon, before the Israeli army later announced the completion of the destruction of what it described as the party’s “infrastructure” in that region, which had been established over the years with Iranian funding and planning.

In the list of priorities of the Israeli security establishment, Iran is classified as the main battlefield, while Lebanon is viewed as a secondary arena. However, Israeli security circles warn that the close connection between Tehran and the factions it supports could lead to rapid and simultaneous escalation on multiple fronts.

In light of the current data, the “timing” element remains the most sensitive factor in the military scene on the Lebanese front, between Iranian pressures that hasten the immediate confrontation and Hezbollah’s field calculations that do not suggest that a decisive decision has been taken yet.
