Behind the scenes of the southern war and alternative plans "UNIFIL"Details of the meeting between Salam and Alain Aoun

The Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, received, this afternoon at the Grand Serail, MP Alain Aoun, where they discussed the general situation and a number of basic files, most notably the repercussions of the war, the ongoing negotiations, and the file of the possible alternative to the International Emergency Forces (UNIFIL), in addition to the electricity sector crisis and the solutions proposed to address it.

Following the meeting, Representative Aoun made a statement in which he explained that he reviewed with the Prime Minister the latest communications related to the course of the negotiations and developments in the “UNIFIL” file.

Aoun indicated that he discussed with President Salam the issue of electricity and the proposed solutions, pointing to the ideas he presented yesterday with the Minister of Energy, which aim to find quick solutions for the transitional phase until major central solutions crystallize, in order to reduce the burdens on citizens.

He stressed that there are fragmented and decentralized solutions that can be implemented at a faster pace, due to their ease of adoption at the procedural and legal levels.

Aoun concluded by saying that the general trend is based on two paths: A central path requires a radical solution, which the visit of the Qatari Prime Minister may contribute to crystallizing, and a parallel path based on decentralized solutions that must be implemented to alleviate the suffering of citizens during the current transitional phase.
