The army intervenes to dismantle a suspicious package that caused panic on the Bekaa road

Today, a suspicious object, a box with an electrical wire coming out of it, suspected to be an explosive device, was found on the vital road located between the towns of Kafr Zabad and Ain Kfar Zabad in the central Bekaa region.

Immediately, a force from the military’s engineering regiment headed to the site, where they were able to detonate the suspicious object on the ground, without causing any human casualties.

This incident is particularly dangerous given the geographic location’s proximity to the Lebanese-Syrian border, which required rapid military intervention to deal with the threat as soon as it was suspected.

The targeted road is a vital artery located within a road network linking a number of villages east of Zahle. The path extends from Kafr Zabad, passing through Ain Kafr Zabad, Qawsaya, and Reit, all the way to the town of Rayak, and is used on a daily basis for transportation of the people of the region.

As of writing these lines, no final details have been issued about the nature of the suspicious object, or whether it was stuffed with explosive materials, and the identity of the party that placed the object and the circumstances surrounding its presence are still unknown, awaiting the results of the ongoing investigations and technical analyses.
