The former head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, called for a return to the “Islamabad” agreements and their development, considering them the only way to spare the region from “complete ruin” from which only the major oil and arms companies would benefit.
Jumblatt warned, in a post on the “X” platform that he attached with the hashtag “#Middle_East,” that “any bet on external support is an illusion and fantasy,” accompanying his position with a symbolic image of the statue of the “seated Egyptian writer,” indicative of the importance of history, civilization, and blogging.
This proposal comes in light of the military and political escalation taking place in the region, coinciding with the activation of regional defense arrangements and movements related to the ongoing wars, at a time when the “Islamabad” negotiations file had previously been presented in the Lebanese arena as a diplomatic path that can be built and followed.
