Beirut – Amidst the escalation of unprecedented political and economic pressures in Lebanon, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party called for launching a comprehensive national dialogue that brings together various political forces, stressing that overcoming the current crises requires an approach that rises above factional calculations and narrow alignments to put the national interest at the top of its priorities.
This came in the statement issued by the regular meeting of the party’s Council of Mayors, which was held under the chairmanship of party leader Asaad Hardan. It was devoted to discussing all local and regional developments. The statement stressed that saving the country requires “opening a serious national dialogue between all parties, on the basis of the Lebanese national interest, and away from factional calculations that deepen the division.” The party held the official authority primarily responsible for launching this path, criticizing its failure to take practical steps to unite the Lebanese around a comprehensive national approach, despite repeated calls.
Regarding the livelihood issue, the party warned of the repercussions of continued economic and social deterioration, stressing that the government bears full responsibility for protecting citizens’ purchasing power and ensuring a minimum level of social stability. He warned that the absence of serious measures may exacerbate internal tension and threaten civil peace, considering that social security has become the most prominent challenge that requires urgent practical policies to ease the burdens on the Lebanese.
At the regional level, the party focused on the situation in Iraq, recalling the milestones and developments on the anniversary of October 6, 1973 and October 7, 2023, and stressing that the elements of strength and steadfastness remain the basic foundation for confronting attacks and occupation. He also renewed his firm position calling for preserving Syria’s unity and sovereignty, rejecting any political settlements that undermine the foundations of protecting land and sovereignty.
Regarding internal party affairs, the party called for consolidating the ranks of the social nationalists and strengthening their unity within party institutions, stressing that the current delicate stage requires strengthening organizational cohesion and raising the level of political preparedness.
These positions are particularly important in light of the intersection of crucial challenges that Lebanon is going through, between a stifling economic crisis and deep political divisions, amid an urgent and increasing need to reactivate the channels of national dialogue.
