Today, Sunday, Major General Jamil al-Sayyid remembered the former Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, on the second anniversary of his martyrdom, highlighting the great void left by his absence and its profound impact on public conscience.
In a post on the “X” platform, Al-Sayyed said: “His Eminence, on the anniversary of his martyrdom, it is enough to look at the size of the void created by his absence, to realize the depth of the impact he left on hearts and minds.” He added, describing the deceased as “a source of thought, a firmness of faith, a firm will, and a great resistance,” stressing that he will remain “a beacon that inspires every generation that carries the banner after him.” He concluded his post by saying: “He was not like anyone else, and no one is like him.”
This commemorative moment comes in the context of a long political relationship between Sayyed and Nasrallah, as Major General Sayyed is known for his political closeness to Hezbollah. The most prominent moments of this rapprochement date back to April 29, 2009, following the release of Al-Sayyed, when he publicly thanked Nasrallah following his repeated demands to release the four officers. Later, this alliance culminated in Al-Sayyed’s nomination and running in the 2018 parliamentary elections for the Baalbek-Hermel constituency on the “Hope and Loyalty” list, which received the support of Hezbollah, the Amal Movement, and their allies.
