Lawyer Wadih Akl launched a sharp attack on the Minister of Education, Rima Karami, following her decision to close Hesarat Public High School, considering the move an injustice and a blatant attack against the people of the town.
Akl explained, through his account on the “X” platform, that the closure decision was issued with the participation of the Minister’s advisors and the General Director, wondering about the backgrounds of this “unjust” decision, especially since the high school building was presented as a gift from the people of the town.
He pointed out that the town of Hisarat includes thousands of residents, and it is known that half of its youth are involved in the public sector, to the point that it was nicknamed “the barracks of the army and security forces.” He pointed out that the town hosts more than 10 football teams, and its people gather in the hundreds on occasions, in addition to the continuing role of expatriates in supporting and building it.
Akl criticized what he considered to be an approach by the Minister of Education to open secondary school classes to teach the displaced after their children were removed from them, holding the representatives of Jbeil, the government of Nawaf Salam, and every silent person fully politically responsible for this decision.
Akl stressed that the people of Hisarat “will not be defeated by an arbitrary decision,” considering that what he described as “a dignified attack on Hisarat is an attack on all of us.”
He concluded by announcing the allocation of a working team to follow up and prosecute what he described as “the violations of Rima Karami, her team, and the financiers,” and to audit accounts, employment, data, and suspicions of corruption, out of loyalty to the youth of Siege and to every town that has been subjected to similar injustice, concluding by saying: “And we will meet.”
