Real Madrid, competing in the Spanish Premier League, announced that its striker Kylian Mbappe suffered a hyperextension injury in his left knee.
This came after the France captain left the team after suffering an injury shortly after scoring the 1-0 winning goal over Türkiye, on Friday, in the European Nations League competitions.
Mbappe (27 years old) received treatment after scoring the goal and returned to the field for a short period, but he fell again and was unable to complete the match, which forced the French national team coach, Zinedine Zidane, to replace him in the 58th minute, in Zidane’s first match in his new position at the head of the national team’s technical management.
In the same context, Real Madrid issued an official statement in which it explained that the tests that the player underwent today under the supervision of the Royal Club’s medical staff showed that he suffered from hyperextension in the left knee.
It is noteworthy that the French Football Federation had initially announced that the player was suffering from a “hamstring injury,” and that he had returned to the Spanish capital, Madrid, to undergo more precise medical examinations, at a time when Real Madrid is preparing to host its counterpart, Villarreal, in the Spanish League championship on October 10.
