The Egyptian Basketball Federation announced the imposition of strict disciplinary sanctions against Amr Zahran, a player for the Al-Ahly club team, against the backdrop of the events witnessed in the team’s match against Al-Qanat in the league championship competitions.
The penalties included suspending the player for a period of three months during the 2026-2027 season, with the suspension period continuing until the end of the related league competitions. According to this decision, Zahran is prohibited from playing in the Egyptian Cup and Egyptian Super Cup matches, in addition to being absent from all international matches, whether friendly or official, throughout the penalty period.
In addition, the Federation approved a fine of 200,000 Egyptian pounds against the player, accompanied by a final warning, while threatening to impose more severe penalties in the event of any violations being repeated in the future.
The Federation explained in its statement that these measures represent a clear violation of the regulations of discipline and sportsmanship, stressing that competition is not only about achieving results, but is closely linked to adherence to behavioral values inside and outside the stadiums.
The Federation concluded by emphasizing its full commitment to imposing discipline and consolidating the sportsmanship, calling on all players and technical and administrative bodies to adhere to mutual respect, in a way that reflects an honorable image befitting Egyptian sports and preserving the integrity of competition and its fair environment.
