Missiles and drones over Mecca

The Command of the Joint Forces of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen announced, on Wednesday, the interception and destruction of a drone launched by the Houthi group that attempted to enter the airspace of Mecca.

The official spokesman for the coalition forces, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, said in a statement, “At 18:50 on Tuesday evening (local time), the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces were able to intercept and destroy an enemy drone launched by the terrorist Houthi militia before it entered the restricted airspace (PROHIPITED AREA) of the holy capital, Mecca, and the hostile drone was intercepted in the south of the city of Mecca.”

Al-Maliki added, “This hostile and terrorist attempt is the second attempt to target Mecca after the first attempt by launching a ballistic missile on July 27, 2017.”

The official spokesman for the coalition forces continued: “This can only be described as a disgraceful act in an attempt to target the place of revelation, the land of the message, and the cradle of the hearts of millions of Muslims in various countries, and an attempt to terrorize the safe guests of the Sacred House of God and harm citizens and residents. This hostile attempt will also remain a black stain on the record of the extremist terrorist Houthi militia, as it is a deliberate act to arouse the feelings of millions of Muslims.”

Al-Maliki stressed that “the security of the Two Holy Mosques and the guests of God is a red line,” stressing that “the leadership of the joint forces of the coalition will not hesitate to take the necessary and deterrent measures against the terrorist Houthi militia and its hostile and terrorist behavior.”
