The young man, Bashar Ibrahim Hussein Al-Ayoubi, died this Saturday morning, as a result of the serious wounds he sustained as a result of being shot in front of his house in the town of Barsa, Koura district, on August 25.
The Lebanon Debate correspondent reported on the day of the incident that unknown assailants opened fire on Al-Ayoubi, seriously wounding him, before they fled to an unknown destination.
Al-Ayoubi was transferred to Albert Heikal Hospital in Koura, where he was admitted in critical condition and underwent treatment for 18 days, before he died this morning as a result of his injury.
A Lebanese Army patrol and members of Army Intelligence came to the scene of the incident, imposed a security cordon and began investigations to uncover the circumstances and determine the identity of the shooters and their motives.
With the death of Al-Ayoubi, the shooting turns into a murder, while attention turns to what investigations will reveal regarding the background of the crime and those involved in it.
Al-Ayoubi is scheduled to be buried after noon prayers on Saturday at the Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi Mosque, and to be buried in the town’s cemetery.
The mourning paper featured the announcement by the family of the deceased of its apology for not accepting the duty of condolences, without explaining the reasons, in a remarkable step that comes in light of the continuing security investigations into the crime.
