Barcelona midfielder Rodri accidentally broke the nose of fellow defender Eric Garcia during the match against Valencia, in the fourth round of the Spanish League.
In the 26th minute, Rodri’s hand collided with Garcia’s face while taking a corner kick, causing the defender’s nose to bleed, who was forced to leave the field, and Frenchman Jules Kounde entered instead.
Medical examinations showed that Garcia had a broken nose, without determining the possibility of him undergoing surgery. If he does not need surgery, he may participate in the next match wearing a protective mask.
Barcelona defeated Valencia 5-0 on Sunday, while Rodri joined the team from Manchester City last August, with a contract extending until June 30, 2030.
