German Kai Havertz, the Arsenal striker, sent a message of challenge to his team’s competitors for the English Premier League title, stressing that the London club will strive to win all titles.
The British news agency (PA Media) reported that Arsenal ended a 22-year wait to win the league title last season, and began the campaign to defend its title by beating Coventry City 3-0 last week, after it had won the Charity Shield title by beating Manchester City by the same score.
Spanish coach Mikel Arteta’s team was close to winning the Champions League title last season, had it not been for its loss on penalties to Paris Saint-Germain in the final in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, but Havertz expressed his confidence in Arsenal’s ability to compete in all tournaments.
The German player said in an interview with Sky Sports: “When you taste titles once, you want to do it again, and we have a team that can compete for every championship.”
He added: “Last year there was one title, but this year we have many titles to compete for. We want to win everything.”
Havertz continued: “The road is still long, and at the present time the focus is on the next match. We started with good steps. We won the Charity Shield and the first match of the season.”
He explained: “We will compete in the Champions League, League Cup, and FA Cup, and matches every three days, and we will show how much we are capable of progressing further. We are looking forward to doing our best this season to achieve our goals again and add titles to the club.”
