British Lando Norris, the McLaren driver and defending champion, achieved an exciting victory in the Dutch Grand Prix, the twelfth round of the Formula 1 World Championship, ahead of the Mercedes duo Kimi Antonelli and George Russell.
Norris finished the race 11.54 seconds ahead of Antonelli, achieving his thirteenth victory in the first category and the third in a row for McLaren at the Zandvoort Circuit, after the team had previously won in 2024 and 2025.
The race witnessed a severe accident involving local hero Max Verstappen, who lost control of his car on the first lap after touching the white line, crashing into a barrier and withdrawing early, which led to the race stopping for about 35 minutes.
After the competition resumed, Norris and Antonelli exchanged the lead, before the Briton regained first place on lap 54, taking advantage of his rival’s tire problems. In the final stages, Norris increased his lead, while Antonelli succeeded in snatching second place from Russell.
Norris raised his score to 159 points, placing him fourth in the overall standings, while Antonelli increased his lead with 242 points, ahead of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, who each have 183 points.
Norris praised his team’s performance, considering the victory to be one of his best victories, at a time when the Zandvoort Circuit is preparing to bid farewell to the Dutch Grand Prix from the championship calendar starting next season.
