A number of Argentine players entered into violent altercations after the final whistle blew against the Spanish players, led by Leandro Paredes and Molina.
FIFA decided to impose harsh sanctions against the Argentine Football Association due to the events of the World Cup final, as follows:
– A fine of $321,000.
– Playing two upcoming matches at home without 50% fan attendance.
The FIFA Disciplinary Committee also decided that $100,000 of the $321,000 should be invested in an anti-discrimination plan, and the implementation of part of the penalty (one of the two matches and $100,000 of the fine) was suspended, with a probationary period.
