The head of the Lebanese economic bodies, Mohamed Choucair, announced that the economic bodies are hosting a high-level Emirati economic delegation headed by the Emirati Minister of Foreign Trade, Thani bin Ahmed Al-Zeyoudi, and including 67 of the most prominent economic leaders and senior businessmen, on August 26 and 27.
Choucair stressed, in a statement, that the delegation’s visit of this high level and large size carries very important positive connotations, and constitutes a qualitative milestone in the path of economic relations between Lebanon and the Emirates, considering that it reflects a clear Emirati interest in developing relations and enhancing cooperation between the two countries, in addition to supporting Lebanon in its efforts aimed at strengthening its steadfastness and embarking on the path of recovery and economic advancement.
Choucair said: “Today we are very optimistic about this visit, which we consider to be a very important step on the path to reactivating economic relations between Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates,” pointing out that it comes in the context of what was agreed upon during the summit meeting between the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, and the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Choucair thanked the UAE and its leadership for the decisions and steps in support of Lebanon, stressing that the Lebanese private sector welcomes the Emirati economic delegation, and looks forward to building on the visit to strengthen the economic partnership and develop relations between the two countries in a way that serves their common interests.
The anticipated visit comes in the context of an escalating path to revitalize Lebanese-Emirati relations, after a phase that witnessed a decline in the level of economic and tourism communication between the two countries. In January 2025, Abu Dhabi sent a high-level delegation to Beirut to complete the procedures for reopening its embassy, in an early indication that relations are returning to a more active path.
