The “Beirut indictment” keeps Salama detained... and Al-Hajj returns him to Roumieh prison

“Lebanon Debate”

The alternate indictment panel in Beirut, headed by Judge Nassib Elia, kept the former governor of the Bank of Lebanon, Riad Salameh, in detention, after it approved the decision of the investigating judge in Beirut, Shehrazad Nasser, regarding issuing a preliminary arrest warrant against him.

Salama’s agent, lawyer Waseem Ghawi, had appealed Nasser’s decision before the indictment panel.

On the other hand, the discriminatory Public Prosecutor, Judge Ahmed Rami Al-Hajj, decided to return Salama to Roumieh Prison from Dahr El-Bashek Hospital, based on the report of the medical committee appointed by the judiciary.

The committee had prepared its report and submitted it to Al-Hajj, indicating that Salama’s condition was stable and did not require keeping him in the hospital.
