“Lebanon Debate”
An accident on the Ghaziyeh Highway captured the attention of the Lebanese, with the spread of a video documenting what the driver of a car did, as he deliberately violently rammed a motorcycle and fled the scene.
Motorcycle driver Hassan Hoteit narrated to Lebanon Debate the details of the incident, stressing that he had no prior acquaintance with the car driver, and that what happened was not the result of a race or provocation between the two parties.
According to his narration, he was riding his bike among a group of riders, after they had, according to him, obtained the necessary permission from intelligence, and were walking towards Sidon. He explained that he separated from the group at an intersection, before stopping at the side of the road to wait for his companions to arrive.
He added that while he was stopping, a car approached him from the right side and swerved towards him from right to left, which led to him being pushed aside, before its driver left the place, according to what he reported.
He pointed out that after the rest of the group arrived, they resumed walking, pointing out that the same car returned and appeared in front of them, and its driver, according to his narration, began to maneuver towards his bike, moving between the right and the left and trying to close the road in front of him.
He said that he tried to move away from the car and avoid it, but the driver returned, according to his testimony, and continued to approach him. He added: “After he managed to pass, he looked back and saw it speeding towards it, so he tried to avoid colliding with it, but the latter hit him and fled the place.”
The bike driver categorically denied that he had provoked the car driver or entered into a race with him, stressing: “I never provoked him or raced with him. I do not even know him, nor do any of the other young men with me know him.”
He pointed out that members of the group later told him that the same car had performed similar maneuvers with them before the accident, explaining that a number of riders were using cameras to document their journey, and that the accident and the stages that preceded it might be documented through these recordings.
He confirmed that he had filed a lawsuit against the perpetrator for the crime of intentional attempted murder.

Regarding the identity of the car driver, the victim stated that according to what attempts to search through the car number revealed, he is called Ali Jawad Taqi, and that they have details related to the vehicle used in the accident, in addition to video recordings that could help clarify what happened.
