Who is the player that Besiktas coach preferred over Salah?

Serdar Adly, president of the Turkish club Besiktas, revealed the scenes of the club’s negotiations to include Egyptian star Mohamed Salah during the summer transfer period, explaining that Italian Vincenzo Italiano, the team’s technical director, would have preferred to sign Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic.

Adly spoke about the most prominent Besiktas deals during the current transfer period, stressing that the club’s management made great efforts to strengthen the team’s ranks. He also revealed the details of the negotiations with Salah, Leandro Trossard and Alexandre Noble, stressing that the team aims to compete strongly for titles during the new season.

Adly said, in statements reported by the Turkish website “Dhuleh”, which specializes in Besiktas news: “The most important deal for us is coach Vincenzo Italiano. From the first day he arrived, he was very positive. After he started working with the team, he said to me: “We have an excellent team, boss. Bring me a good striker, and if our resources allow us, let’s sign Vlahovic. That’s enough.”

The Besiktas president touched on the negotiations that took place regarding Mohamed Salah, who eventually moved to the ranks of Trabzonspor, explaining that the club tried to persuade the technical staff to complete the deal.

Adly said: “When we were offered the Salah deal, I made a great effort to convince the coach and the technical staff.”

He added: “The coach and technical staff were not enthusiastic about contracting with Salah, and the conditions requested by Salah and his agent did not comply with the principles of our club, and were not part of the plan that we set at the beginning of the transfer period. When the conditions did not meet, we backed down.”

The Besiktas president explained that signing Salah would have affected the club’s ability to include Vlahovic, who was the Italian coach’s preferred option. He continued: “If we had signed Salah, we would not have been able to include Vlahovic, which the coach wanted, and I am very happy that I accomplished the deal he wanted.” (Erm News)
