She said in a statement: “In a statement of what was stated in some media outlets on the topic of customs duties on cell phones, the Ministry of Communications is concerned to confirm that its role is limited exclusively to the technical administration of the platform designated for the registration of the devices for the benefit of customs, which is the reason behind the citizens receiving text messages through this platform, and that customs duties on the devices are determined and shall be established exclusively by the General Directorate Customs according to the laws in force.
