The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the need to disarm Hezbollah and dismantle its military structure in southern Lebanon, considering that this constitutes an essential part of implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry said that Hezbollah continues, in its words, to violate the ceasefire understandings, noting that the interception of recently launched missiles confirms the party’s continuation of attacking Israel and destabilizing the borders.

She added that implementing Resolution 1701 requires disarming Hezbollah and dismantling its military infrastructure in southern Lebanon, considering that these steps are necessary to prevent renewed military confrontation.

These positions come in light of the continuing tension on the Lebanese front, in conjunction with the ongoing diplomatic efforts to stabilize the ceasefire and reach new security arrangements in the south. It also coincides with increasing international pressure to implement Resolution 1701 and strengthen the role of the Lebanese army in the border areas, amid the continuing exchange of accusations between Lebanon and Israel regarding violations of existing understandings.
