Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmed Al-Hajjar, inspected the government buildings complex project in the town of Shehim, stressing that the project “will see the light soon,” at a time when he stressed the importance of supporting the Iqlim Al-Kharroub region and continuing to implement development projects despite the difficult circumstances that Lebanon is going through.
Al-Hajjar toured the complex project located in the “Al-Jurd” locality, accompanied by the mayor of Shehim, Engineer Tariq Shaaban, where he was briefed on the progress of the ongoing work to complete the project, before moving to the municipality building and holding a series of meetings with the municipal council and mukhtars, and educational, party, and social events in the town.
During the meeting, a number of development and service files were discussed, most notably the government buildings complex project, the files of paving roads and improving infrastructure, electricity and water, in addition to the security challenges and the displacement file and its repercussions on the host communities.
Al-Hajjar stressed that Shehim “was never lost from his mind,” noting his constant communication with Representative Bilal Abdullah, former Representative Muhammad Al-Hajjar, and the municipality of Shehim “to provide what we can to the people of the region.”
He revealed that work on the government buildings complex project will begin soon, after communicating with the Chairman of the Council for Development and Reconstruction, Muhammad Qabbani, considering that the project “gives a great impetus to the region as a whole.”
He also announced work on a project to drill a well to supply the water reservoir in Shehim, with the aim of addressing the water shortage, in addition to other projects under follow-up.
Regarding the displacement file, Al-Hajjar stressed that Shehim and Iqlim al-Kharroub “demonstrated the highest levels of patriotism and humanity,” pointing out that the region embraced the displaced “away from any political considerations or previous disputes.”
For his part, former MP Muhammad Al-Hajjar called for continuing to issue decrees for the government departments that will move to the complex, noting that the project will serve the people of the entire region, not just Shehem.
Issues related to the situation of schools and students, and some administrative affairs related to the mukhtars, were also raised during the meeting, in addition to the demand to return the criminal record center to the region.
