Real Madrid announced the imposition of financial sanctions on the duo Federico Valverde and Aurelien Chouamini, after the incident that occurred between them on the sidelines of a training session last Thursday.
According to press reports, a dispute broke out between the players, before Valverde suffered an injury, as a result of which he was taken to the hospital, after he collided with a table inside the training headquarters, amid conflicting accounts about the details of what happened.
For his part, Valverde denied that there was any fistfight with Chouamini, stressing that the matter did not go beyond a verbal altercation.
Despite this, Real Madrid opened a disciplinary investigation into the incident, before announcing its final decisions on Friday.
The club explained that the players appeared before the investigator and expressed their regret for what happened. They also apologized to each other, to the club, to their colleagues, to the technical staff and to the fans.
Real Madrid confirmed that Valverde and Chouamini have expressed their full cooperation and willingness to accept any punishment that the club deems appropriate.
