According to the Spanish newspaper “ESdiario”, Mourinho requested a two-year contract, granting him full powers to build the team and select the basic elements, in addition to rearranging technical and medical files within the club.
He also stipulated controlling the contract file, determining the list of those who departed, and dispensing with 7 players who are not part of his technical project, in addition to working with his current staff coming from Benfica, while keeping Alvaro Arbeloa among the technical staff.
Mourinho also requested the departure of physical trainer Antonio Pintos due to recurring injuries, the reduction of summer commercial tours in the United States and Asia, and the reliance on an independent medical opinion in player injury files.
Among his conditions is that club president Florentino Perez be his only contact within Real Madrid.
The report indicated that the club’s management is currently studying these demands, and will decide its position within days, amid internal division over the possibility of granting the Portuguese coach this amount of powers.
Some voices within the club believe that Mourinho’s return may restore discipline and a strong personality to the dressing room, after a difficult season that Real Madrid experienced in terms of results and titles.
Mourinho had coached Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, winning the Spanish League, the King’s Cup and the Spanish Super Cup, before he left amid a tense atmosphere. He is currently coaching Benfica, after signing his contract with the club in September 2025. (Russia Today)
