The Portuguese newspaper “Apola” revealed that the future of the coaching staff at Real Madrid is largely linked to the position of Matilda Faria, the wife of coach Jose Mourinho, as she is expected to have a decisive influence on the decision of his possible return to the “Santiago Bernabeu” next summer.
According to the newspaper, Mourinho is considered one of the most prominent candidates to return to coaching the Royal Team, from which he left in 2013, in light of the technical changes that the club witnessed this season, which included the dismissal of Xabi Alonso and the appointment of Alvaro Arbeloa in his place.
“Apola” indicated that the position of Matilda, who is 60 years old, may decide Mourinho’s next destination, especially since the Real Madrid management takes into account her previous experience in the Spanish capital, and the pressures that accompanied it.
During the family’s stay in Madrid, Matilda and her children, according to the report, faced remarkable media pressure, in addition to a difficult social atmosphere that also affected Mourinho himself and his behavior during that stage.
The newspaper added that Matilda has played an influential role in the Portuguese coach’s decisions since he left Real Madrid, as she contributed to his accepting the Tottenham Hotspur training to stay close to his family in London, and she was also one of the most prominent supporters of his rejection of the offer to train Paris Saint-Germain.
