Ferguson, 84 years old, was preparing to watch the match from the stands, before he felt unwell, requiring the intervention of the medical staff in the Stretford End tunnel.
According to “The Sun” newspaper, Ferguson received first aid on the field, before being transferred by ambulance for additional examinations, while eyewitnesses said that he was sitting and appeared “in good condition.”
The Daily Mail reported that his transfer to the hospital came as a precautionary measure, amid optimism within Manchester United about the stability of his health condition and the possibility of him returning home soon.
Ferguson is considered one of the most prominent names in football history, having led Manchester United to 38 titles over nearly three decades, including 13 English Premier League titles and two Champions League titles.
Since his retirement from coaching in 2013, Ferguson has been keen to follow Manchester United’s matches from the stands. The club merely did not comment on the incident, emphasizing respect for the privacy of Ferguson and his family. (coora)
