Representative Ali Hassan Khalil, a member of the “Development and Liberation” bloc, explained that simply announcing a ceasefire is not enough, stressing the necessity of ending “organized killings and destruction of homes.”
In a statement to NBN, Khalil warned of the negative consequences of the new displacement, stressing that it “will cast its weight on the overall internal situation in Lebanon,” especially with the worsening economic and social burdens.
He stressed that Lebanon “has become accustomed to pressure and has not surrendered,” noting that the top priority at the present time is the consolidation of the ceasefire, the withdrawal of “Israel” from the southern villages, the return of the displaced to their homes, in addition to the release of prisoners and the start of the reconstruction process.
He also pointed out that “the unity of the Lebanese internal position” is the basis for confronting the current difficulties, calling for strengthening the national discourse and maintaining societal peace in light of this escalation.
These statements come in light of the escalation of tension in the south, where military pressures overlap with the worsening humanitarian repercussions, which requires the Lebanese interior to maintain its political and social unity.
