Ronaldo's former chef reveals his secret to maintaining his body and performance throughout his sporting career

Giorgio Baroni, the former personal chef of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, revealed some of the secrets of the diet followed by the Saudi Al-Nasr player, which contributed to maintaining his fitness and distinguished performance throughout his sporting career, and enabled him to continue on the field until he reached the age of forty.

In an interview with the Covers website, Giorgio, who worked as Ronaldo’s private chef during his time at Juventus, explained that Ronaldo does not rely on “super” foods, but rather the secret of his fitness lies in his strict commitment and avoiding sugar, fast food, and staying up late.

Baroni stated that Ronaldo is keen to eat organic foods from reliable sources in an organized manner, denying rumors that he eats expensive foods.

He also stated that Ronaldo eats a variety of foods such as avocados, eggs, black and red rice, chicken and fish, stressing that he does not treat his kitchen as a “chemical laboratory” and is not overly concerned with measuring the proportions of proteins and carbohydrates.

Regarding the extent of Ronaldo’s commitment to his diet, the Italian chef, who has worked with many football stars, said that other players may sometimes eat “frivolous” things and deviate from their diet, but Ronaldo, according to Baroni, is distinguished by great strictness and commitment to his diet even at the end of the seasons.

He added: “He never eats fast food, even on vacation. There is no sugar even in coffee. Sugar is poison to our body.”

The chef pointed out that Ronaldo eats dinner early, explaining: “He would eat early in the evening because you will not sleep well with a full stomach. This is the worst thing that could happen.”

The chef stated that Ronaldo does not eat before matches, unlike other players, as the Portuguese star believes that playing with a full stomach exhausts the body and slows down his movement.

Baroni confirmed that Ronaldo excluded pasta and bread from his diet, explaining: “If he needs carbohydrates, he gets them from vegetables, as he does not need anything made from flour, and he says no pasta, no bread, no similar foods.”

Ronaldo also refuses to eat ready-made sauces because they contain preservatives and excess calories.
