
Information Minister Paul Morcos issued a strong condemnation of the assassination of journalist Amal Khalil in southern Lebanon, amid increasing attacks on journalists working in the region. The Minister considered this action to be a grave violation of international humanitarian law.
In a statement published on his account on the He stressed that targeting journalists is a crime that cannot be tolerated.
Morcos also called on the international community and international organizations to intervene urgently to stop these violations and ensure that they are not repeated. He offered his sincere condolences to the martyr’s family and colleagues.
It should be noted that rescue teams were able to extract the body of journalist Amal Khalil from under the rubble after two air strikes targeted the town of Al-Tiri in the Bint Jbeil district, killing two people and wounding journalist Zainab Faraj. Ambulance teams faced great difficulties in reaching the accident site.
This position coincides with the escalation of demands to provide protection for journalists working in conflict areas, and to hold accountable those responsible for targeting them, in light of the increasing risks threatening those working in conveying the truth on the ground.
