From Baabda: Akis warns of chaos in the absence of a state with unified weapons

Representative George Akis, speaking on behalf of the “Sovereign Front,” affirmed their full support for President Joseph Aoun and his orientations, following a meeting that took place in Baabda Palace. Akis considered that the president’s recent speech represented a “speech of a new oath” given the emphasis it included on the need for the state to regain its right to negotiate and assert its sovereignty.

Akis also stated that the Sovereign Front supports “all the approaches, decisions, and directions of the President of the Republic,” stressing their full support for him “in the face of intimidation, treason, and threat campaigns,” in solidarity with the government, whether the president or the ministers.

Akis explained that “the essence of the crisis in Lebanon is Hezbollah’s weapons,” considering that this weapon hinders the building of the state and prevents it from monopolizing the decision of war and peace.

Akis continued, saying that the highest priority remains to stabilize the ceasefire and turn it into a permanent one, through the serious implementation of government decisions. He stressed that only the state, through its military and security institutions, is authorized to bear arms and impose security.

Aqais called for the necessity of controlling borders, combating smuggling and illegal financing, and prosecuting violators, stressing their support for the President of the Republic’s approach to negotiation, with the aim of ending the use of Lebanon as an arena for regional conflicts.

In conclusion, Akis stressed that “the choice is clear: either a state with one weapon and one decision, or the continuation of chaos and wars.”
