Saad Hariri commemorated the memory of the martyr Basil Fuleihan, and stressed: “He is always present in the thoughts of those who seek a homeland that accommodates the dreams of its children.”
In a tweet on the “X” website, Hariri stressed the importance of adhering to the principles embodied in the character of Fuleihan, pointing out that his way of working remains a beacon that illuminates the path of everyone who strives to build a state where justice prevails and is distinguished by the strength of its institutions.
Hariri concluded his tweet with the hashtag “#We_will_not_forget,” in order to emphasize that Fuleihan’s memory and contributions to serving the nation will remain eternal, more than twenty-one years after his martyrdom.
It is noteworthy that Basil Fuleihan was one of the prominent Lebanese figures who called for reform. He was martyred as a result of his wounds sustained in the assassination of Rafik Hariri on February 14, 2005, when the late President Rafik Hariri was martyred with him, making him an important national and administrative symbol in the history of Lebanon.
