YouTube has announced new changes aimed at improving the experience of watching live broadcasts, as it will reduce or delay the display of ads during periods of high interaction, allowing viewers to enjoy a short period free of ads.
In addition, the platform has introduced new features for creators and expanded monetization tools, as part of its ongoing efforts to improve the live streaming experience.
YouTube explained that it will automatically stop displaying ads when the level of interaction in the live broadcast chat increases. The system identifies peak interaction times and temporarily avoids displaying ads to all viewers, stressing that this measure aims to “protect group interaction” and ensure viewers enjoy the current moment.
The company also added improvements for users who support content creators during live broadcasts, noting that these improvements aim to highlight fan interaction.
The “Super Chat” feature allows users to pay to pin their messages in the chat, while “Super Stickers” represent paid images that help messages appear distinctive, and “YouTube” seeks, by providing an ad-free window, to make these interactions more useful.
Furthermore, YouTube has provided various updates to creators, as wider geographic regions now support sending gifts to viewers, including countries such as Canada, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand.
Viewers can also send GIFs in horizontal live broadcasts from mobile devices, expanding features that were previously limited to vertical live broadcasts.
Finally, creators can now live stream vertically and horizontally at the same time, with all viewers able to join a unified chat.
