Recent technical reports revealed that Google, which owns the YouTube platform, is developing a pilot project for a new social media platform called “Tamba,” which is expected to provide a user experience similar to the “Instagram” application, through features based on following users, messaging, and sharing content.
According to what was reported by the “Android Authority” website, signals and software related to the project were detected within version 21.44.534 of the “YouTube” application for the Android system. These signs included a logo for the platform, along with 38 icons related to search, camera, chat, messaging, and content creation tools.
The discovered software codes indicated that the “Tampa” platform may allow users to create personal files, send follow-up requests, conduct individual and group conversations, as well as exchange photos and videos, and interact with posts via comments and likes.
Potential features of the platform also include the ability to share “shorts” clips and play them directly within conversations, in addition to the ability to respond to comments using voice messages or short video clips.
The report indicated that there are indicators indicating the development of an application independent of the YouTube platform, with indications indicating the existence of experimental versions running on the Android and iOS operating systems, which paves the way for the possibility of launching a new competitor in the social media platform sector.
On the other hand, the report pointed out that the name “Tampa” may be related to a purely software testing environment. This reflects the possibility that the project is dedicated to experimenting with social features in preparation for later integration into the “YouTube” application, rather than launching it as an independent application.
So far, Google has not made any official announcement confirming or denying the details of the project, nor has it set any possible date for its launch, leaving its future and the nature of its use at the present time subject to speculation.
