French star Kylian Mbappé, the Spanish Real Madrid striker, succeeded in building a financial empire estimated at about $280 million, benefiting from his huge salaries, sponsorship contracts, and various investments, at a time when his recent crisis in China put part of his commercial interests before a new challenge.
According to media estimates reported by Agence France-Presse, Mbappe’s wealth is estimated at about $280 million, while Forbes magazine estimated his annual income for the year 2026 at about $100 million, distributed between $70 million from his football activity and $30 million from sponsorship contracts and commercial activities, making him third in the world among the highest-paid football players, behind Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentine Lionel Messi.
Mbappe’s investment activities are not limited to the green rectangle, as he owns a majority stake in the French club “Cannes”, as well as investments in the “Sorar” digital gaming platform, the “Alan” health insurance company, in addition to the “Zebra Valley” media production company.
The French star is also linked to partnerships with prominent international brands, including “Dior”, “Hublo”, and “Oakley”, in addition to signing last September an agreement with the Swiss sports products company “On”, which includes obtaining a share in its capital.
Despite his commercial successes, Mbappe’s empire is facing the repercussions of a crisis sparked by his statements about the late Chinese leader Mao Zedong, which prompted him to apologize and resulted in three Chinese companies ending their partnerships with him.
According to the French newspaper L’Equipe, the estimated annual value of two of the expired contracts amounted to about $7.8 million, noting that termination does not necessarily mean losing this entire amount in the absence of official financial details for settling the contracts.
This crisis raised concerns about its potential impact on Mbappé’s commercial image in the Chinese market, which is one of the most important markets for international brands. However, experts believe that its repercussions may limit his marketing expansion there, without posing a radical threat to his overall investment empire.
