A new update to ChatGPT introduces advanced features to protect users' data privacy

OpenAI has launched a new security feature for the ChatGPT application that allows users to protect their conversations and data by setting a four-digit passcode (PIN).

The company explained in an official statement that the new feature is being rolled out gradually, and enables users to secure specific conversations within the account and completely hide them from conversation history, pinned lists, and search results. She noted that this step contributes to enhancing the privacy of sensitive data, especially when sharing the screen or using shared devices.

“OpenAI” confirmed that this feature will be available in various categories of the application, which include the free versions, “Go,” “Plus,” “Pro,” “Business,” “Enterprise,” and “Edu.”

In the same context, the company warned that the process of resetting the passcode will lead to the permanent deletion of all locked conversations and stored information and files exclusively associated with it. She explained that this procedure is final and cannot be undone, stressing the inability of the technical support team to recover any data deleted in this way.

On a related level, the Russian “TASS” agency reported, based on a study conducted by the “Pay Globally” platform, that “ChatGPT” topped the list of the most used foreign services during the month of last September, recording a 47% growth in the volume of purchases compared to the month of August. Thus, the application outperformed various “Apple” services, such as “App Store,” “iCloud,” and “Apple Music,” which were at the top of the list of purchases during the months of July and August.
