Law enforcement in Samaan Gallery: raided a Hezbollah apartment and seized subsidized medicines

The process of executing a judicial summons in the Zaghloul building in the Callery Semaan area ended with the seizure of quantities of medicines and the sealing of the apartment used to store them, after field tension required military intervention to support the Central Criminal Investigation patrols.

A patrol belonging to the Central Criminal Investigation Department moved based on a summons issued by the Cassation Public Prosecutor, Judge Ahmed Rami Al-Hajj, following an official referral from the Minister of Health, Rakan Nasr al-Din. This step came to seize medicines in warehouses belonging to a pharmaceutical company, against the backdrop of suspicions related to their corruption and failure to meet the health conditions necessary for circulation.

While the mission was being carried out, a number of armed men who identified themselves as belonging to “Hezbollah” gathered, surrounded the patrol members and demanded the Brigadier General, commander of the mission, to withdraw. As the numbers of people gathered increased, the Brigadier General contacted Judge Ahmed Rami Al-Hajj, who issued decisive directives to request immediate support from the Lebanese Army and the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces to protect the elements and ensure the completion of judicial procedures.

After large reinforcements from the Lebanese Army arrived at the site, the gunmen withdrew, so that the patrol could secure the place and complete its tasks by seizing medicines and stamping the apartment in red. Observers praised Judge Al-Hajj’s steadfastness and his insistence on applying the law and not submitting to judicial procedures under pressure, in addition to the decisive role of the brigadier general, patrol members, and army units in containing his commitment and completing the mission in accordance with legal procedures.
