Four Lebanese teams officially qualified for the quarter-finals of the 38th edition of the Arab Basketball Club Championship, which is hosted by Al-Hikma Club Beirut in the Ghazir Sports Club Hall and continues until Tuesday, October 20. This group qualification guarantees direct Lebanese confrontations in the scheduled round and the semi-finals, which determines the arrival of at least one Lebanese team to the final match of the tournament.
Al-Hikma team, host of the tournament and champion of the 1998 and 1999 editions, concluded the group stage, topping the first group with a full mark after achieving its fifth consecutive victory over Al-Seeb of Oman with a score of (88-62), setting a date in the quarter-finals with the Hoops team, fourth in the second group.
Within the same group, Al-Ahly Al-Ittihad Al-Halabi of Syria snatched second place by defeating Al-Rayyan of Qatar (88-78), while Al-Rayyan finished the first round in fourth place, lagging behind Central Jounieh, which finished third.
The quarter-final matches will begin on Sunday, October 18, according to the following program:
– 14:00: Al Rayyan Qatar x Al Arabi Qatar.
– 16:30: Al-Hikma, Beirut x Hobbs.
– 19:00: Homs Al-Fidaa Al-Syria x Al-Ittihad Al-Ahli Al-Halabi Al-Syria.
– 21:30: Beirut x Central Jounieh.
The course of the tournament in the semi-finals is scheduled to result in a confrontation of a Syrian-Qatari nature, in addition to a purely local Lebanese confrontation, in order to determine the two parties who qualify for the final match.
