The Argentine international, Manchester United defender, directed sharp criticism at his club’s management, specifically football director Jason Wilcox, stressing the team’s urgent need to conclude more strong contracts, with the aim of keeping pace with the top European continent and building a squad capable of winning titles and competing strongly.
Martinez said in statements he made to the “Amazon Prime” platform: “I expect more from our club, and I must be frank about that. At the same time, the players must provide more effort on the field.”
These statements came in the wake of the team’s loss outside its home base, as Manchester United suffered an early blow at the Metropolitano Stadium, following a goal scored by Pablo Barrios for Atletico Madrid in the first minute of the match. Things became more complicated after United defender Lenny Euro was sent off, so the hosts seized the opportunity and Ademola Lookman confirmed their victory by scoring the second goal in the 79th minute.
