The former President of the Lebanese Republic, General Emile Lahoud, recalled the former Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, on the second anniversary of his assassination, praising his struggle and historical positions, and stressing his continued presence in the conscience of the resistance fighters and the nurturing environment.
Lahoud said in a statement issued on the occasion: “On the anniversary of the martyrdom of our dear brother, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, we cannot help but recall his biography full of historical and pivotal milestones, as he was and remains a source of glory and pride, and he chose martyrdom alongside the resistance despite the means available to him to survive far from his land.”
The former President of the Republic noted, “Two years after the martyrdom of Sayyed Nasrallah, we bear witness to the steadfastness of the resistance fighters and the solidarity of his broad audience, who did not lose, even for a moment, their faith in the cause for which he was martyred, along with many others, at the hands of Israeli criminality, which occupies a land that is not his, in light of global silence and some internal conspiracy.”
Lahoud pointed out that the will of this public is “solid to achieve liberation again, as happened in the year 2000, to restore the scene of victory that remains a historical milestone.”
Lahoud concluded his statement by saying: “Two years after his martyrdom, Mr. Nasrallah remains present among us, through the motivation possessed by the resistance fighters, the toughness enjoyed by his fans, and most importantly through his keenness not to be drawn into internal strife,” indicating that Nasrallah “was keen on this and sacrificed for it several times, blocking the way, as is happening today, in the face of Israeli conspiracy and internal recklessness,” and considering that “this is a lesson that must be done.” “Let no Lebanese forget him.”
