The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) continues its efforts to support local communities in southern Lebanon, in parallel with village efforts to restore their basic services and the path of recovery and rebuilding.
In this context, UNIFIL announced through a post on the “X” platform that peacekeepers provided a new waste collection truck, in addition to providing health care, food aid, supporting schools, and organizing recreational activities for children. The organization stressed that these initiatives were designed to meet the urgent needs of the people and enhance cooperation and connections with local communities.
These steps fall within a broader package of efforts announced by the mission this September, which includes intensifying support for villages affected by hostilities, in direct coordination with municipalities and representatives of local communities to determine priorities. This aid included providing medicines and medical supplies to health facilities, providing educational support, and facilitating humanitarian missions, in light of the continued impact of damage to infrastructure and great pressure on basic services on the daily lives of residents of the south.
