Baabda Palace witnessed a series of meetings that included parliamentary, economic, social and judicial sectors, where the talks conducted by the President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, focused on developments in the general situation, especially the repercussions of the war and living pressures, as well as development and regional files.
During his meetings, President Aoun stressed the necessity of fortifying national unity and promoting a culture of dialogue and reconciliation, stressing that coexistence is the destiny of the Lebanese and that division only serves Lebanon’s enemies, calling for internal solidarity and not to be inspired by others abroad.
Regarding parliamentary affairs, President Aoun received MP Michel Daher, where the political, economic and security repercussions of regional developments were presented, in addition to following up on the service and welfare demands of the Zahle and Bekaa districts to enhance the state’s presence. He also met with MP Michel Murr, who stressed the seriousness of the stage and the necessity of internal solidarity to stop the war of attrition, support the army and keep it away from political tensions, in addition to discussing the development and municipal files of Matn.
On the livelihood front, President Aoun received the head of the General Labor Union, Bechara Al-Asmar, who called for the formation of a ministerial economic cell to follow up on livelihood issues and defuse tension. President Aoun welcomed the demands, stressing the role of guarantor institutions such as social security and the state employees’ cooperative, and stressing the importance of convening the indicator committee and increasing the transportation allowance.
Regarding the economic file, President Aoun briefed the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Port of Tripoli, Iskandar Bandali, and the members on the port’s business plan and development strategy, which includes strengthening governance, digital transformation, and expanding the container terminal. Aoun praised the efforts of the Board of Directors, stressing the importance of economic integration between the port of Tripoli, the economic zone, the Rashid Karami exhibition, and Qlayaat Airport. He also met with a delegation from the “Abdul Rahman Al-Hallab” Foundation to discuss the economic conditions in the north and the development of the confectionery industry.
Judicially, President Aoun received the Appeals Public Prosecutor in Mount Lebanon, Judge Sami Sader, on the occasion of granting him the “Distinguished Arab Public Prosecutor” certificate for the year 2026, congratulating him and stressing that the honor is an appreciation of the Lebanese judicial body.
In a social meeting, Aoun received a delegation from the new administrative body of the Our Lady of Ilig Association, headed by Teddy Abu Rjaili, who presented the “Purifying Memory” initiative aimed at promoting reconciliation. The President welcomed the initiative, stressing the importance of dialogue and spreading awareness among young people to overcome the wounds of the past.
