The Lebanese University issued an explanatory statement regarding what is being discussed regarding the entrance competition to the faculties of medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy, in which it revealed that there was a deficiency in some data during the translation of a limited portion of the chemistry subject questions (specifically in the analytical chemistry department) from French to English.
The university confirmed that the competent committee immediately addressed the defect in accordance with academic principles, and in order to ensure equal opportunities and not hold any contestant responsible for a deficiency in which he had no hand, the full mark for the questions in question was calculated for all participants without exception or discrimination.
She explained that the results were subjected to strict review and auditing stages before being announced, confirming that there were no defects affecting their safety after applying the treatment. She also stressed that what happened was not related to any error in the scientific content or the competence of the competent committee, but rather was limited to a problem in the translation process.
At the conclusion of its statement, the Lebanese University announced that it will take the necessary measures to strengthen the mechanisms for auditing the translation of competitions to prevent the recurrence of such cases in the future, stressing its commitment to addressing academic issues within its institutional frameworks in order to preserve its credibility and the rights of all competitors.
