On Tuesday, France Football magazine revealed the list of candidates for the Best Coach in the World Award for the year 2026.
The list of candidates, which was announced by the French magazine on its “X” account, included 5 coaches, including 4 coaches from Spain and one coach from Belgium.
The list included Spaniard Luis de la Fuente, who led the Spanish national team to win the World Cup this year in the United States, Mexico and Canada, following its 1-0 victory over Argentina after resorting to extra time in the final match of the World Cup. This was the second time the team had won the World Cup, having previously won it in 2010 in South Africa.
The list also includes the Spanish Luis Enrique, coach of the French team Paris Saint-Germain, who led his club to win a number of titles this year, most notably winning the Champions League title for the second season in a row, after winning on penalties over Arsenal in the final, in addition to winning the local league title.
Also present on the list was the Spanish Unai Emery, who led his English club Aston Villa to win the European League championship this year, following its great 3-0 victory over German club Freiburg in the final of the continental competition. This is the club’s first continental title in 44 years, and it is also the first major title the team has obtained in 30 years.
The list also included Belgian Vincent Kompany, who won the local double (Bundesliga and German Cup) with his team, Bayern Munich, this year.
It is noteworthy that the 70th edition of the Golden Globe Awards will be held in London on October 26.
