The Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority announced, on Friday, the thwarting of an attempt to smuggle 1,950,581 pills of the narcotic amphetamine, which were hidden inside a “lentil” consignment carried on a truck coming to the Kingdom through the Haditha port.
The Authority’s official spokesman, Hamoud Al-Harbi, explained that while the truck was subjected to customs procedures and inspected using security techniques and live means, the quantity was found hidden inside the lentil consignment.
Al-Harbi stressed that the Authority continues to tighten customs control over the Kingdom’s imports and exports, and confront smuggling attempts, as part of its efforts to protect society and limit the introduction of narcotics and contraband, in coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Narcotics Control.
Al-Harbi called for contributing to combating smuggling and protecting society and the national economy by communicating with the authority and reporting any information related to smuggling operations.
